Run for the Cure 2007
Wild, wet,
and windy!
No, not paddling or even sailing, but sloshing through
the rain with thousands of other like-minded enthusiasts on
September 30th. Our AIAB fuchsia banner was a cheerful bit
of colour as our nine dedicated members joined the many others
proud to be raising awareness of breast cancer at the 2007
Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation Run for the Cure.

This year all the
booths and formalities were under tents outside BC Place.
One of our sponsors, the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation,
was well-represented and Mayor Sullivan cheered us on from
the sidelines. Once again Team Captain Jean Driscoll-Bell
had us well-organized as she patiently answered questions,
distributed bags and shirts, and gave instructions.
Our special thanks
to two of our fundraisers who raised over $2000 each, Marcia
Remple and Janet Plant, and three who raised over $1000 each,
Sheila Tynan, Jean Duckett and Jean Driscoll-Bell –
you make us so proud. With four of our team members in Australia
racing dragon boats and soaking up the sunshine, we thank
you for your extraordinary thoughtfulness and efforts before
you left - Sheila Tynan, Heather Trenholm, Claudette Brown
and Anne Anthony. We had a total of 20 registered members
on the Abreast In A Boat team who collectively raised $11,640
– 58% of our goal of $20,000. This was a tremendous
effort for such a small team.
Thanks very much Jean
for once again captaining the AIAB team for the CIBC &
CBCF Run for the Cure.
