Many Hands Create a Fiery Dragon

The Dragon Creators glued, taped, cut, stitched, assembled, and fringed throughout Sunday August 26 at UBC Theatre Department Costume Room. The AIAB Dragon, which will be paraded through the streets of Caloundra Australia in less than a month, came together with the sound of laughter and squeals of delight from all the worker bees in attendance.

The effort was organized by Barb Lea of Abreast - Deas Divas and directed by Jean Driscoll-Bell of Abreast On The Creek. An enormous THANK YOU goes to the outstanding creative volunteers from our crews.

The day started off 10 a.m. with coffee/tea and sweet rolls and little visits as everyone arrived. The concept overview and ideas started flowing and began taking shape. A short break for a succulent "pot luck" lunch at 12:30 was followed by a photo op and then back to work. A very pleasant surprise was a visit from our President, Margaret Hobson, and Deas Manager and photographer, Sheila Tynan. While some had to call it a day at 4:00 pm, others carried on to complete the tasks and even taking a few moments to step outside to test run the results of our work before we all departed at 8:00 pm.

Overall results - GRAND - SIMPLY - GRAND!! Thank you all for bringing this idea to fruition - without your creative spirit and generous help, it would never have been ready in time.
