ALCAN 2007

Alcan weekend - June 16/17 - was again a great success for Abreast In A Boat with all six crews participating. While the Scotiabank Trophy for the breast cancer race headed south to Portland with an outstanding effort by Wasabi SOAR, our own Abreast In The Cove did us proud by winning the silver medal, Abreast With FORT-itude won the bronze, and the other AIAB crews were not far behind. A moving flower ceremony followed the race and, for the first time, an additional boat with people so important to our Society (alumnae, injured paddlers, managers, coach) joined us on the water to take part in the ceremony. Thank you Dr Don for steering this boat, and also for guiding our novices through their first season. Congratulations members-who-are-no-longer-novices, you looked awesome out there and the rest of us are looking forward to paddling many seasons with you.
